Our Impressions of Hamlet Croft

The ground has covered seating for over 200 people and has plenty of concrete areas for people to stand and watch the match. Hot food, crisps and hot and cold drinks are sold from a tea hut near the stand and the club house has a pool table, juke box, large TV, fruit machine and sells alcoholic beverages before, during and after the match.

The view of the pitch is excellent (raised about fifteen feet above it stand side and level with the pitch on the other sides) and the scenery is quite beautiful. There is enough parking for at least seventy cars (although half of it is on the mud !) and the ground is only five minutes walk from the town centre. The prices for entrance are ?3.00/?2.50 for adults with/without a programme and ?1.50/?1.00 for senior citizens and children under the age of 16.

By Road

From Cambridge

Take the A1307 through Linton and then at the roundabout on the outskirts of Haverhill, head towards Sainsburys supermarket. Head into Haverhill and at the double roundabout near the town centre, go left and then right past the Duo Fu Chinese restaurant on your right. Head through Haverhill until the first left turning after the Project Office Furniture building on your right into the town centre. The drive way into Hamlet Croft is a small turning on the left just after Croft Lane on the same side.

From Bury St Edmunds

Take the A143 towards Cambridge. Pass through Sturmer and carry on going till the roundabout after Murphy's garage on the right. Go straight over this on and then take the next left turning into the town centre. The drive way into Hamlet Croft is a small turning on the left just after Croft Lane on the same side.

From Colchester

Take the A1124 to Halstead and then the A1017 to Wixoe. After Wixoe take the A1092 towards Haverhill. Pass through Sturmer and carry on going till the roundabout after Murphy's garage on the right.
