The Giant Axe is located near to the centre of Lancaster, in the shadow of the historic Castle and Priory Church.
By Road
Head into the centre of Lancaster on the main roads and you will come to the one-way system around the centre. If travelling from the north, you have to go round this until you reach the southern point of the one-way system, when you turn right into King Street at the Alex pub. If travelling from the South, you will reach this and can continue down it. Continue along this road through the lights at the Market, and to the next set of lights, with Waterstones on your left. Turn left onto Meeting House Lane, then across the railway line by the station, and right into Station Road. Follow this road round as it becomes West Road, and the ground and car park will shortly be on your right.
By Train
We recommend that you come by train, partly because in the area where the ground is, there are 3 Green councillors who don't believe in cars and might eat them, but mainly because that way you can have a few drinks in the fine pubs of Lancaster. And it's easy as well. Just use the exit from Platform 3 of the station, turn right onto Station Road, and follow the road round as it becomes West Road, and you can't miss the ground. 5 minutes walk at most.
By Foot
Pretty much the same as by road really, except you do have the option of climbing up to the Castle, then heading down the hill by either road to the ground. Very pleasant really. But probably not recommended as your only mode of transport if coming from Hucknall.
