Our Impressions of The Walkers Stadium

Leicester City have moved a few hundred yards from their old home at Filbert Street to a brand new stadium, known as The Walkers Stadium.

This is a custom built all seater stadium, with a capacity of 32500. Visiting fans are normally allocated approx 3200 seats in the corner of the ground between the North and East Stands.

Directions to The Walkers Stadium

The directions below are for Leicester City's old ground, Filbert street. They are still relevant, as Leicester only moved a couple of hundred yards (they share the same postcode) to their new home, The Walkers Stadium.

By Road

From The North

Take the M1 until junction 22 or A46/A607 into Leicester city centre. Follow signs to Rugby into Almond Road, then turn right into Aylestone Road. Swing a left into Walnut Street, then turn left into Filbert Street for Leicester City FC.

From The South

Take the M1 of M69 until junction 21, then A46 (signposted Leicester). Go under the railway bridge and turn right into Upperton Road and right again into Filbert Street for Leicester City FC.

From The West

Take the M69 or A50 into Leicester city centre. Follow signs to Rugby into Almond Road, then turn into Aylestone Road. Swing a left into Walnut Street, then left into Filbert Street for Leicester City FC.

From The East

Take the A47 into Leicester city centre. Follow signs to Rugby into Almond Road, then turn into Aylestone Road. Swing a left into Walnut Street, then left into Filbert Street for Leicester City FC.

By Rail

Filbert Street is about a mile from Leicester Station. A taxi will cost about ?3.00. There are no buses running directly to the ground from here. To walk it, cross the ring road towards the Royal Sun Alliance building and turn left. Keep on the pavement up and over the hill and don't cross the footbridge. In daylight, cut across Nelson Mandela Park to the junction of Walford Road and Aylestone Road. Turn left. Take a right into Walnut Street. At night, avoid Nelson Mandela Park. Continue to junction and turn right instead.

By Bus

Number 52 runs from the Clock Tower along Walnut Street. Number 170 also runs this way from Charles Street. Numbers 26,37 and 38 also run close to the ground. Catch them in the City Centre.
