Our Impressions of Don Valley Stadium

The Don Valley Stadium was opened in 1991, after being purpose built for the World Student Games. The ground is essentially an athletics stadium, and the 25000 capacity is hardly required for an average attendance of 1000.

By Road

From the South

Exit the M1 at junction 34 (Sheffield Meadowhall), and take the second exit. Follow this road for about 2 miles, and the Don Valley stadium is in the left hand side.

From the North

Exit the M1 at junction 34 (Sheffield Meadowhall). Take the fourth exit at the roundabout, following the signs for A6109 (Meadowhall Road). Follow the A6109, passing the Meadowhall shopping centre, and then after about 2 miles, turn left onto the B6083 Newhall Road (by the Texaco garage) to the T-junction. The Don Valley Stadium is opposite.

By Bus

The following bus routes serve the stadium from Sheffield Passenger Interchange... 2, 69, 130, 287.

By Tram

Sheffield's light rail system has a dedicated stop within 100 metres of the stadium. Trams connect from various points of Sheffield, including the City Centre and Meadowhall.
