Stranraer - Stair Park

The biggest crowd ever in Stair Park was in 1948 for a Scottish cup-tie against Rangers but in those days the ground was alot different. For the one the pitch was very narrow, grass banks at either end + railway ash surrounded the pitch due to Stair Park's close proximity to the main west coast line. The cooshed which still stands had railway sleepers as terracing. Around 15 years ago the club decided to make concrete terracing all the way round no higher than 8 steps. In the mid nineties the old south stand which held 500 got knocked down and was replaced by a magnificent 1500 seater stand. Shortly after this the toon end(west end) terracing was given a roof which goes the width of the pitch. Unlike some grounds in Scotland Stair Park has the facility or space for more enclosures or stands which would improve the already tidy little ground which these days holds 5600. The crowds are very low these days averaging less than 450 but all we diehards hope we can get the support back and Blues can be successful again.

There is space for app. 2600 away fans at Stair Park in the east end of the ground. Although against Motherwell recently there was over 3000 crammed in to the away end. The Away support seating wise gets the small 'cooshed' which olds app. 310 and a third of the main south stand which is another 500. The away terracing at no more than 7 steps high holds around 2000. Toilets are not the best in the terracing area but in the main stand they are all right. Disabled facilities are available but you must contact the secretary first.
