Our Impressions of Recreation Ground
Recreation Ground built in 1948. Terracing on 3 sides of the ground. One end of ground (Kells end) is covered. Main grandstand was demolished in 1997 and new one built seating 600. Record attendance was in 1960 18,5000 against Wakefield Trinity. Match day prices £8 adults (anywhere in ground) £4 O.A.P's £2 Children
Match Day programs are available for £1.50, this is the price for 2003 season
Catering is available at the ground from the shop in the Kells end of the ground, Pies , hot drinks, crisps sweets etc all on sale. Also a burger van situated in the stadium. Hot drinks etc may also be purchased from a small hut near the grandstand.
A disable area is provided in the main Grandstand for easy viewing and easy entry and exit points are available, stewards are available to help. Access to J.J.McKeown bar is wheel chair friendly.
Directions to Recreation Ground
Exit the M6 at Junction 40, At roundabout take 1st exit A66 (signposted Keswick). Follow the A66 directions for Workington. Take the 1st exit (A595) to Whitehaven at roundabout. Follow signs to Whitehaven through Lillyhall and past Disington and Parton. As you come into Whitehaven (signposted) branch right at the garage and descend into Whitehaven Town centre onto the A5094. Follow one way signs in town centre past bus station, Sal Madges Pub and Police Station. At Junction turn left and go past Civic Hall and Safeways supermarket. At the garage near the Castle pub, turn right into Coach Road. Go past local church (St.Beghs) and turn left towards the Recreation Ground at Jewson store.

There is a car park outside the ground belonging to the Whitehaven Miners Club ,cost ?1, Club Merchandise can be purchased on match days from shop in the Kells end and during the week from the local Bargain Madness store situated in the town centre
